DAY 1: CUMACEBA AMAZON LODGE - PAICHE FARM - PRIMARY RAINFOREST HIKE
Airport or hotel pickup and tour of Iquitos' historic center, visiting iconic landmarks such as the Iron House and the Palace Hotel. Then, we'll navigate the Itaya and Amazon Rivers, enjoying panoramic views of the bridge that connects the city to the countryside. We'll visit Fundo Pedrito, home to the Paiche (the largest freshwater fish) and the Victoria Regia water lily. We'll continue to Cumaceba Ecolodge, where cabins will be assigned. After lunch, we'll take a hike to explore the flora and fauna, with the option to feed the squirrel monkeys. In the evening, a canoe excursion on Shansho Lagoon to see small caimans. Dinner and stories about jungle myths. Overnight at Cumaceba Ecolodge.
DAY 02: CUMACEBA AMAZON LODGE - FISHING IN THE AMAZON - DOLPHIN WATCHING
We'll begin the day with an early morning hike to observe the sunrise and birds in their natural habitat. Afterward, we'll enjoy recreational fishing for piranhas and other fish. A typical lunch will follow. In the afternoon, we'll search for gray and pink river dolphins, and weather permitting, we'll witness a spectacular sunset. Dinner will be served, followed by an evening hike to listen to the sounds of the rainforest and observe nocturnal wildlife. Overnight at the Ecolodge.
DAY 3: CUMACEBA AMAZON LODGE - MONKEY ISLAND - IQUITOS
Early morning canoe excursion on Shansho Lagoon, observing birds, including the colorful Hoatzin. Afterward, we'll sail to Monkey Island, a project that protects several endangered monkey species. We'll hike through the rainforest before returning to the Ecolodge for lunch. Finally, we'll return to Iquitos and transfer to the airport or your hotel.
