Welcome to Greece's most famous cosmopolitan island, a whitewashed paradise in the heart of the Cyclades. Mykonos, the island that enchants the world with its white sugar-cube buildings, its embellished colourful doors and window frames, its people walking along narrow streets, all the way down to the water’s edge.
According to mythology, Mykonos was formed from the petrified bodies of giants killed by Hercules. And did you know that the island took its name from the grandson of Apollo, “Mykonos”?
TOUR HIGHLIGHTS
Little Venice: Crumbling balconies, chimneys and foundations eaten away by the force of the waves and the salt air, support posts to hold up the walls in their battle with the northerlies all create an anarchy of lines that catches the eye and keeps you looking… Where else, other than in Mykonos (or perhaps in the real Venice)?
Mykonos: Using the Chora as your base, set out on a trip to discover the beauties of the island, in particularly its sun-kissed beaches. The most cosmopolitan ones are Paradise and Super Paradise. Ornos and Psarou are favorite spots for families. Try a visit too to Platis Yalos, with a well-organized beach where you can soak up the sun lazing on a sun lounge. However, if you are looking for a serene beach to unwind with a book, pick a less organized one on the northern coast of the island, like Agia Anna, Houlakia, Kapari, Agrári and Agios Stefanos.
A white and blue maze: Turn left or right, there is no wrong way as you wander down Mykonos' winding alleys. Be ready to lose yourself in these streets, where every corner hides something new. A sleeping cat, a designer store, a little granny sitting in her doorway, you never know what you'll find!
